A reunion in the Finger Lakes

When we graduated from college my roommate, Jessica H., and I made a promise to meet up at least once a year. While that sounds crazy it really is an accomplishment for us. In addition to juggling crazy schedules we're also far apart. Jessica lives in Buffalo - a long haul from New Jersey. We're five years in and so far we've been pretty good about keeping up with our pact:


2006: Time for our one year reunion! We decided to go somewhere we've never been before: Chicago. We met up with another good college friend, Jessica C., over Memorial Day weekend. The girls already knew Rob but this was the first time getting together with both of the Jessica's boyfriends. We had a fun time, despite the fact that our flight out there was really, really delayed getting out there.

2007: Jess came to New Jersey for my wedding.

2008: We decided to meet at a random town in PA that was a mid-way for both of us. We hit up a few wineries and stayed at a cute bed and breakfast (minus the hard beds and rough toliet paper). We also decided it would be fun to do a bar crawl, but the town was so small we were finished with it by 9pm. Grand total for two people on a bar crawl: $15. They definitely had cheap drinks! After exploring the town we went back to the B&B to relax on the balcony and enjoy our new bottles of wine. It was a fun weekend away but on the way home I got my first speeding ticket (For the record, I was going 10 miles over the speed limit, but I was keeping up with the speed of traffic). The cop was a jerk too, and needless to say I was not very happy about my little souvenir. After that, I wanted Rob to come on our next trip so I didn't have to drive.

2009: We decided to go camping in the Finger Lakes - the perfect midway point! Since the boys were coming we wanted to make it fun for them as well. We both had tents, and since Rob had only used his for backyard sleepovers this was the perfect excuse to crack it out. We had an awesome time and hit up some amazing vineyards, our favorite being Americana. By the 4th winery we were pretty buzzed and decided to go back the following year on our quest to make our way around the lake.

2010: This year we're lucky enough to see each other three times! Jessica and her boyfriend, Kevin, came down to visit us in February and we had a great weekend catching up and doing some sightseeing in Manhattan. We also squeezed in a little girl time at our 5 year college reunion in June. Now it's time for our annual trip to the Finger Lakes. We have our game plan in place and another B&B booked (due to time constraints we couldn't do a camping getaway, but we really did love it the first year). Fingers crossed the beds and toliet paper are better than the last one!


I'll try to post pictures from this weekend. One thing we're good about is getting a picture wearing a SBU shirt every time we meet up. The shot above is the most recent one taken at our 5 year reunion.
