What I Hate About Traffic, Part 1

I'm sure this will be a multi-part series, but I'm going to start listing out what I can't stand about other drivers and the traffic it causes. Thank goodness I don't have a long commute, but the 9 miles of highway I travel a day can be very frustrating especially when I encounter the scenarios below:

  • Trucks. I've said it before, but I think big trucks should have their own road. They slow everything down, and when they are involved in an accident it shuts down the highway. If you're going to drive on the road, at least stay in one lane instead of slowing down every lane on the road.
  • Slow people in the fast lane. Really? Going 45 in the left lane on a major highway isn't cool. I'm not saying I'm going over the speed limit, but if you see a whole procession of cars behind you, chances are you're holding them up. Stay to the right, please.
  • Weather. Unless you are a crazy driver, chance are going over 10 miles per hour on the highway won't kill you, whether there's a light drizzle hours before or the glare of the sun causes people to stop on the road. If you're cautious, please see the second bullet above, and stay to the right of the road.
  • Merging. On this one part of the highway where two roads merge, everything slows down and it backs up my commute for miles. The funny part is that when the roads merge there are still separate lanes. Do people just panic when they see more cars? Didn't you learn how to merge in drivers ed?

What are your pet peeves about driving?

My Siblings are Growing Up!

This weekend I found out that both my brother and sister are in relationships. Isn't that crazy? Well, to me it is. I want them to be happy, and they seem to be, but that means they're growing up. And based on the stories they tell me, they're getting away with a whole lot more than I did when I lived at home and dated someone. Glad I made everything so much easier for them. I'm sure my little brother will get away with a lot more too. Lucky for him, he's got me as a (sometimes) overbearing sister to help keep him in line :)

Wii Fun

As a Christmas gift for both of us, Rob and I got a Wii system. To be honest, he wanted to get it a while ago, but I pushed back since everyone I spoke to said it's great until the novelty wears off. I'm sure it will eventually, but I actually enjoy the fitness games and we both have a great time trying to beat the New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The best part about this new Mario game is being able to play with two to four players, and the graphics are incredible.

Some of my favorite workout games include Zumba, Yoga/Pilates and Jillian Michaels (she kicks my butt!). We used to play Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, and the Wii Fit and Wii Sport games a lot, but we're on a mission to beat Mario Bros. It reminds me of being a kid!

The big 2-8

I just realized it's time to update how old I am in the About Me section of the blog. The time has come to say good-bye to 27. However, I am grateful that 28 started off on a good foot: a few days after my birthday I received a promotion at work. Here's hoping this year continues on a positive track!

Ugg Earmuffs

I usually don't mind the winters, but I haven't been able to shake the chill with this one. Luckily, last year I bought a pair of Ugg earmuffs which have been a huge help keeping my head warm especially when I take Buster for his daily walks.

Ordinarily I would have though buying a pair of Ugg earmuffs would be crazy, but I had a gift card and really wanted a pair. This has been one of my favorite investments, and something that Rob likes to take from me whenever he leaves the house, too. An added bonus is the great case that keeps them safe... for whenever the warmer weather decides to come back.
